That year you were twenty- one, living in Dorseroben, a thoroughly unremarkable newspaper reporter working for Kesori Cultural Media Company. You'd pulled out all  the stops to land this job.

You liked your job.

You didn't want to lose any of this.

...But was that really true?

Life's a struggle.

You'd muddled through over twenty years, doing work that seemed vaguely righteous, yet you couldn't even save that girl. What had you gained in all these years? And what had you truly lost?

You hated this world, but even more, you hated that you couldn't change it.

So naturally, thoughts of death came to mind.

Then that bastard calling himself "Ivanovich" showed up. 

That man who sent chills down your spine, repaid kindness with betrayal, looked older than you but dressed flashily. His arm was in a cast, he carried a strange guitar case, wore those grimy, oil- stained climbing gloves, and barged into your life with a cavalier  grin- reckless, rude, utterly unreasonable, in a way that was brutally violent and completely devoid of moral boundaries.

He definitely wants you to  die.

This guy was insane.

Anyone who saw him would think so.

...

...But then why, when the massive force of the car explosion threw you through the window, did he unbuckle his seatbelt and pull you into his embrace?

"—If you feel you can't endure it no matter what..."

"It's just because you're too weak and so pitiful, and I happen to be too cruel. So those things that would dirty your hands—why not leave them for me to do?"
